One of the best games at E3 2011 was Tomb Raider, a visceral, intense re-imagined “prequel” for the Lara Croft series that detailed just how she got her spelunking, platforming and puzzle-solving skills. For E3 2012, Square has something just as special in store, if the new Tomb Raider “Crossroads” trailer is to be believed.
As seen in the three-plus-minute trailer, which you can see in its entirety below, Lara Croft is once again in trouble, this time trying to escape from another cave similar to the one we saw at last year’s E3. Oh, and battling mano-a-mano with some of the game’s main villains. That’s actually the biggest difference with this new trailer — comprised of gameplay footage, by the way. We finally get to see some of the other victims of the creepy island on which the game takes place, as well as the people doing said victimizing.
I have a behind-closed-doors demo of Tomb Raider slated for next week, so count on more updates about the game from the E3 show floor. Until then, this video should whet your appetiteand vault Tomb Raider to the top of your most-wanted list — the position it currently enjoys on mine.
