Baltimore, Maryland – Guano, known for its fertilizing properties, is also Big Goose Egg’s fun and popular birds arcade game for the iOS platform. With a birds-eye view of parks, cities and campgrounds, Guano! users steer their bird characters overhead in search of targets. The unsuspecting people below quickly catch on and begin to fight back.
Version 1.2 unleashes 3 new characters. In addition to the pigeon, owl and eagle options, users may also unlock the raven, cardinal, and falcon.
Over and above these 3 additions to the character lineup, Big Goose Egg Games has embedded an “Easter egg” within the code. An “Easter egg” in programming terms refers to a message, a joke, some added functionality, or even an entirely new game hidden within the existing code. For example, Microsoft Excel 95 contained a hidden Doom-like action game called The Hall of Tortured Souls.
“I remember that feeling of discovering a hidden element inside that Atari game ‘Adventure’ from back in the late 70s, early 80s,” recalls Dr. Tori, “I found it before my friends did and Man! That was exciting. Well, I wanted to recreate that excitement for others.”
As a part of that excitement, Big Goose Egg Games is preparing for a Guano! gamers contest in early-to-mid October. Discovering the hidden “Easter egg” character will help contestants as its scoring is triple that of other game characters.
“The contest ends on Halloween, so you can imagine what the secret character is,” says Dr. Tori, smiling. “But unlike other products with Easter eggs in them, we’re not going to ‘leak’ the information to the public. In fact, the first person to share it on Twitter or Facebook will get something special from our company, Big Goose Egg.”

Big Goose Egg Games was founded in 2011 by a Baltimore-area physician as a lesson in entrepreneurship for his 6 children and as a way of gamifying health, wellness, and education. The name “Big Goose Egg” combines the concept of zero, computers, fairy tales, and growth. Zero is for “nothin’, nada, zip, zero, the big goose egg”, since nearly all Big Goose Egg games are free. Egg is not only for birth and growth, but also for “egghead” as a symbol for geeks, computers, and intelligence. Finally, “goose” as a reminder of stories and fairy tales and their role in making learning fun. Copyright (C) 2012 Big Goose Egg, LLC. All Rights Reserved.
