The core gameplay is as simple as in most games of this genre – get a question and four answers and choose a correct one. Strivia raises it to a new level by one simple addition. A player has to pass from start to finish on a hexagon field where each cell color represents the category of the question one has to answer. Correct answer unlocks a cell and allows to progress farther and wrong answer burns that cell blocking some ways. This adds the whole area for interesting and creative decisions for players – choose a short way to reach your goal faster or maybe avoid some categories you aren’t familiar with; take a long way because you enjoy answering some categories or maybe risk and try to short-cut. Any player has some favorite categories and categories he isn’t familiar with, so it always requires strategy when planning a path from start to finish.

There are more than a thousand of questions in the game, divided into six categories: history, geography, technology, sport, literature and movies – so there are six cell colors on a board to choose between. Also questions are split into 3 levels of difficulty and this is just a simple choice at the start of a level, so a player can always adapt the game to his knowledge and erudition.
But the most fun and intriguing questions are used in a different way in Strivia. There is a special compelling and very hard question for each board on each level of difficulty and a player will get a detailed answer when successfully completing a level.
