Following two years of development, a gesture-recognition technology for mobile devices called AirScreen is now available in the iTunes App Store. The technology is part of a new game called Kinetic Defender. For 1-4 players, they must protect the Earth from incoming meteors and missiles, controlling targeting through hand motions tracked by the iOS device’s front-facing camera. The app supports AirPlay Mirroring for large screen gameplay.
The idea for AirScreen, the revolutionary motion recognition technology for iOS and Android, originated with the co-founders in 2011. According to Fernando Correa, one of the project leads, “The first time I played with Xbox Kinect, I knew we had to do something about it. No doubt, it was the future of gaming. But it was a future that we felt should be made available to as many people as possible – and that is why we decided to accept the challenge of creating a new technology. To be successful, we realized that it needed to be a software-only solution that would be compatible with most smartphones.”
“[We] contracted InfinixSoft to help us develop a game that met our expectations and made AirScreen shine,” Correa continued. “That game is Kinetic Defender – set in a futuristic time and played with a futuristic technology. The perfect combination. Without hesitation, we began to work with InfinixSoft to carry out our dream of turning a smartphone into a game console.
