Rock Band is coming to the Wii after all, as Harmonix, MTV and EA today announced the official release date for Rock Band Wii in the United States and Canada: June 22, 2008.
Rock Band for the Wii will carry a suggested retail price of $169.99. If you’re wondering what it’s all about, you can read DailyGame’s Rock Band review for the Xbox 360 version. But please note: the Wii version definitely has some differences.
For instance, Rock Band for Wii will be released as a Special Edition bundle including the software, drums, microphone and a wireless guitar. Stand-alone instruments will also be available on June 22 for people who want to build their band one instrument at a time or want to play the drum-versus-drum game mode. The game will feature 63 songs total, including five bonus songs.
Rock Band is a new platform for music fans and gamers to become “one” with each instrument in the band. The game challenges players to put together a band and go on tour while learning to master lead/bass guitar, drums and vocals.
Taking Activision’s Guitar Hero games head-on, Rock Band features the most master recordings of any music game. Rock Band’s track list includes music from every genre, from alternative and classic rock to heavy metal and punk.
