Electronic Arts today unveiled some new gameplay details regarding Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09, which will ship this summer for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 and PSP. The biggest feature: players will receive in-game coaching from none other than Tiger Woods himself. Well, sort of.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 will feature dynamic, personalized gameplay via Tiger Woods’ personal coach, Hank Haney. Looking to drive the ball long and straight? Trying to nail the pin with the approach shot? Haney will assist gamers as they hit the links and try to advance their career to win the FedExCup.
In Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09, a player’s skill level is dynamic, constantly adjusting throughout the round just as it would during a real afternoon out on the links. Following each round, Haney will deliver customized feedback on a player’s performance.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 will also feature a more intuitive and customized GamerNet experience, as well as a new game engine powering the online play via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
GamerNet challenges such as long drive, approach shots and putting, will all be delivered instantly throughout all the various game modes, letting players challenge their friends to beat their performance directly from the fairways. GamerNet also features a new daily leaderboard and challenges customized to fit an individual’s playing style.
The online play upgrades also include simultaneous play, an online engine that gives up to four players the ability to play each hole at the same time, allowing players to get in a rhythm, swing when they are ready, not when their course partner wraps up his or her shot. This makes rounds of golf much faster than before.
