Xbox One owners have been loving Max: The Curse of Brotherhood for some time, but their “last-gen” kin have been languishing. That won’t be the case much longer. Microsoft and Press Play have announced a Max: The Curse of Brotherhood Xbox 360 version will be available April 9. The download-only game will be available via Xbox Live.
In addition to the Max: The Curse of Brotherhood Xbox 360 edition, a PC version will be available starting on April 15. It’ll be available for download via Steam.
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is a story-driven adventure filled with action-packed platforming and creative puzzle-solving. Armed with only a Magic Marker, Max must confront evil at every turn in a hostile and fantastical world in order to save his kid brother, Felix. With five magical powers and twenty levels set in seven unique worlds, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is an adventure for players of all ages.
“We are really proud of releasing what we believe will be one of the best-looking games on XBLA. Originally, Max: the Curse of Brotherhood was developed for Xbox 360. Late in development we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to reposition the game as an Xbox One launch title. Since we shipped the Xbox One version, we have worked to make what we believe is the best possible Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game,” explained Creative Director Mikkel Thorsted.
It’s interesting to hear that the Max: The Curse of Brotherhood Xbox 360 version is in a way the “original” version. Having played through the game on Xbox One, I can say it’s one of the most gorgeous titles to appear on Microsoft’s newest console. Hearing that it’s now coming to Xbox 360 made me wonder whether it would take a graphical downgrade.
Apparently not, based on Thorsted’s statement. The Xbox One version may have a few unique lighting or physics tricks, but knowing that the Xbox 360 is capable of full-HD 1080p output makes me hold out hope that the Max: The Curse of Brotherhood Xbox 360 version will look every bit as good as its Xbox One kin. We’ll find out soon.
