While hunters prepare for the 2008 hunting season, Activision will be letting them practice their aim with Cabela’s Legendary Adventures, a Wii, PS2 and PSP game the company announced today.
Rather than just toss random animals on the TV screen, Cabela’s Legendary Adventures will let players re-live “the greatest hunting stories ever told.” Hence the game’s title, apparently.
Exactly who’s telling those stories, and whether they’re even true, remain to be seen, but we do know where — and when — the hunts will take place. Players will hunt in different eras in search of white-tailed deer, Yukon moose, Alaskan brown bear and Roosevelt elk. We’re envisioning levels that take place from the Oregon Trail to modern locales.
The levels will span North America only, but they’ll take place in top hunting locations such as Kodiak Island, the Yukon and the Rocky Mountains. Each location will be an open environment, so players can explore the in-game world and choose their tactics to bag the big trophy.
To reflect the different periods, Cabela’s Legendary Adventures has shooting mechanics that reflect both modern and historical hunting technology.
