Nothing says “happy Monday” like being called a fat American by a videogame. And Nintendo wants to make today a happy Monday for us all, so they’ve shipped Wii Fit and the Wii Balance Board to retail today.
As you can read in our Wii Fit review, the game has different aspects to intrigue male and female gamers, but one nigh-universal element is the game’s propensity for called gamers “overweight” the first time they stop on the Balance Board.
Lovely.
At an MSRP of $89.99, Wii Fit comes packaged with the Wii Balance Board, a platform that senses both weight and shifts in movement and balance. The Wii Balance Board connects wirelessly to the Wii console and is the tool by which gamers can participate in more than 40 activities such as yoga, aerobics, strength training and balance.
Helpful virtual trainers in the game talk users through the different activities and make suggestions for improvement. The game also tracks users’ progress so they can see how much they’ve improved while exercising with the game.
If you want to get Wii Fit today, you can only do so at the Nintendo World store in New York. The game and peripheral bundle will be at retail stores across North America on May 21.
