Novastrike, a sci-fi shooter that pits players against invading aliens, has blasted onto the PlayStation Store today, giving PS3 owners the reins to an experimental Scythe fighter.
From the cockpit of their experimental Scythe fighter, able pilots will utilize free-roaming flight and multiple weapon variations to combat an armada of alien forces in the air and on land. With ship and weapon upgrades, as well as a slew of allied units, players will engage the invading Draelus in a variety of planetary environments.
Novastrike includes seven expansive stages driven by objective-based goals, and each stage is completely free-roaming, so players can fly in any direction. As the player collects weapon drops from enemy ships, the weapons become available to the Scythe. All told, there are nine base weapon systems, each with three subsequent upgrade levels.
The game’s enemies include both air and ground targets, so the game includes two separate weapon systems for players to target both air and ground opponents. As for the enemies themselves, Novastrike includes multi-sectioned enemies whose components (e.g. body parts) can be destroyed independently. For example, carriers have hangars that launch fighters, and these hangars can be destroyed independently of the Carrier, thus preventing the Carrier from launching additional fighters.
