The next Disney animated film (the one after WALL*E), will have a next-gen video game tie-in as well, Disney Interactive Studios announced today. This November, the company will release Bolt for the PS3 (PlayStation 3), Xbox 360, Wii, DS, PS2 and Windows-based PC.
The movie “Bolt” tells the story of a TV-star dog that’s inadvertently shipped from Hollywood to New York City, where he begins a cross-country adventure home. The Bolt video game, however, won’t follow the movie’s plot, but will instead take place in the fictional world of the in-movie TV show, thus letting players travel worldwide.
Players will do this while playing as both Bolt and his owner, Penny. As Bolt, players can use superpowers including laser vision and “superbark,” which sends out a sonic blast to devastate opponents. No, we aren’t making this up. As Penny, players will use stealth and hacking abilities as well as a scooter-like “wheelbar.”
Theoretically, this combination of abilities should spice up the gameplay, but we’ve not seen any first-hand.
The Nintendo DS version of the game will differ slightly, and it will include competitive and co-op multiplayer.
