Vizio today took the wraps off a new series of HDTVs for all those gamers and home-entertainment enthusiasts looking for sets on the cheap.Called the XVT Series, the newhigh-definition sets offer more features and extended performance at pretty low prices, all things considered.
The first three models in the XVT series are the SV420XVT and SV47XVT LCD HDTVs, both of which have 120Hz processing, and the VP505XVT Plasma HDTV, which supports full 1080p and HQV processing.
Vizio’s SV420XVT and SV47XVT LCD HDTVs use a faster refresh rate of 120Hz, which is twice that of many other LCDs and effectively eliminates motion blur. This is a good feature for gamers, as fast-action sequences often generate minor lag on certain TV models larger than 32 inches.
The new VP505XVT FULL 1080p Plasma monitor, meanwhile, integrates Silicon Optix’ REON HQV processing to bring out more detail in both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) sources, including more natural color tones. The set also uses Silicon Optix HQV’s advanced noise reduction.
All three sets use SRS Labs’ TruSurround XT audio processing, a partnership that we reported on just two weeks ago. They are all also compatible with the Vizio SV5.1 Upgrade Kit, which adds 5.1 surround-sound functionality with the inclusion of rear channel speakers and a wireless subwoofer.
