The Happening, M. Night Shyamalan’s first R-rated movie, will release on Blu-ray Disc on Oct. 7, Fox Home Entertainment announced today. A suspenseful apocalyptic film, The Happening follows a group of people on the run as a series of chilling deaths erupt in major American cities.
The Happening features Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel (Bridge to Terebithia) and John Leguizamo.
The Blu-ray Disc will feature four Blu-ray exclusive bonus features, as outlined below:
- Scene-specific PIP (Picture in Picture) — BD-Exclusive
- The Hard (R) — BD-Exclusive
- Train Shooting: A four-minute BD-exclusive feature detailing the specifics of shooting on a moving train
- Forces Unseen: A four-minute BD-exclusive special-effects piece that focuses on how the wind was created for the film, and how the post-production team gave it that eerie look.
- The Hard Cut: A nine-minute behind-the-scenes feature about the preparation and execution of graphic scenes. Features Robert Bailey, special effects crew, images of the squibs, make-up and prosthetics.
- I Hear You Whispering (9 min.)
- A Day for Night: A seven-minute piece detailing a day in the life of M. Night during production. Footage shot by a mini-DV cam contributes to the raw in the moment style of coverage for our one day with Night.
- Elements of a Scene: a 10-minute dissection of the staging of an elaborate scene, from planning to adjustments to nailing the last shot of the sequence. Stand-up interviews from cast and crew personalize the piece with a glimpse at all the contributions needed to capture the scene and move on.
- Visions of The Happening: A 12-minute making-of documentary
