The Smashing Pumpkins will debut a new single this fall, but not on the radio or on MTV. Instead, it’ll debut in Guitar Hero World Tour, which ships for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii later this fall.
The Smashing Pumpkins’ new single, “G.L.O.W.” marks the first time a band has recorded a new song exclusively for Guitar Hero before it releases publicly. The new track, bundled with two other Smashing Pumpkins hits, (“1979” and “The Everlasting Gaze”), will be available after the game’s launch as a three-song downloaded content pack.
The only Smashing Pumpkins song on the actual game disc will be “Today,” which will appear in the game with The Smashing Pumpkins’ singer, songwriter and lead guitarist Billy Corgan, who will be an in-game character. “Today” originally appeared on The Smashing Pumpkins’ 1993 album Siamese Dream.
