Bandai Namco has never been one to avoid long-named games. But in announcing the Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution release date, the publisher has perhaps given a release date to the longest-named game in history.
First things first: the Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution release date is Sept. 16 for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The kinetic fighting/action game will be available on Steam (PC) that same day. FOr those who are looking forward to the latest Naruto Shippuden game, now you know when it’s arriving.
But really, about that name? Recall for a moment Microsoft’s E3 announcement of the new Dead Rising 3 DLC called Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arecade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha. That was a long name, for sure — but Microsoft knew it. They chose the name with Capcom specifically because it was of out-of-control proportions.
Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution? Yeah, that’s not a tongue-in-cheek humorous reference. It’s the honest-to-God, we’re-serious-about-this name chosen by Bandai Namco its upcoming Naruto game. Come on now, people. If you can’t remember a game’s full name when you stroll into a retailer to buy it, it’s a sign that it’s not going to help sales.
Anyway…for those who are mildly interested in Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, here’s its premise. The Hidden Leaf Village in the country of Fire was created by two legendary ninja who had their differences. Hashirama Senju, also known as The God of Shinobi and the first Hokage, and Madara Uchiha crossed sword sand Jutsus during a deadly bout in the Valley of the End. Naruto Shippuden fans will be able to live this epic opposition once again (in the characters’ Reanimation versions) through free battles in Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution.
The big takeaways there are “ninjas” and “free battles.” Unfortunately the game itself isn’t free, so we’re not sure where the “free” reference comes from. Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution carries a standard $49.99 price tag for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
