When the Colts host the Giants in today’s Week 2 NFL preseason game, the QB battle won’t be nearly as intriguing as a regular-season matchup. Sure, Andrew Luck and Eli Manning will see some snaps, but they’ll eventually give way to the backups. That’s not exactly what fans of either team want, and for very different reasons. To see what both QBs offer in today’s 7pm EST game, you can watch NY Giants vs Indianapolis Colts online live preseason week 2 in various ways.
Earlier this week ESPN said the Colts could be one of the most dangerous teams in the league — if they unleashed Andrew Luck. Last week things started slow for Luck, who only played a single drive along with the rest of the Colts starters. Luck did connect on some nice passes to Hakeem Nicks and T.Y. Hilton, and Trent Richardson made some nice runs, but Indy’s starting unit had to settle for a field goal.
Indy coach Chuck Pagano said the plan for tonight’s Giants game is for Luck and the entire Colts starting offense to play the whole first quarter. Will Luck really shows signs of being unleashed, as ESPN called for? Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton is certainly creative, so we’ll see.
NY Giants fans will be watching their own QB for different reasons. Eli Manning had a brutal season last year and needs to have a great 2014 campaign to erase those memories. Last week’s Week 1 preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t look encouraging. Manning went 0 for 2 before hitting the sideline, hardly an encouraging sign that the 2013-14 season was an aberration.
Manning may get some help against the Colts from his offensive line. Tonight’s Giants vs Colts Week 2 preseason game marks the debut of Will Beatty, who’s been recovering from a broken leg suffered in last season’s regular-season finale. Beatty is scheduled to start tonight against Indy, as is Brandon Mosley, whom coach Tom Coughlin said had a good week that he hopes will mark his status as the NY Giants’ starting right guard.
Clearly there are some questions for both teams to answer. They both have about one quarter to do so. There’s no TV broadcast, not even on NFL Network, so you’ll have to watch tonight’s Giants vs Colts game online via a live stream. Your best bet is the NFL’s Preseason Live service, a preseason-only package that lets fans watch all out-of-market preseason NFL games for $19.99.
