The toys-to-life genre has blossomed in recent years, with new game franchises surfacing in every corner. Ironically, some of the most anticipated toys for those games aren’t coming from “new” franchises at all. Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes is one such example, particularly with the Guardians of the Galaxy now being added to the mix.
Disney Interactive today announced that the Guardians of the Galaxy Yondu character is joining the ever-growing cast of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes toys. Yondu has been known as a character for years but recently gained prominence with the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
In addition to Yondu, Disney also announced that Falcon from the “Captain America” franchise is also set to appear in the upcoming game.
Yondu is the leader of the outlaw band known as the Ravagers. Whether he’s trying to outwit the Guardians of the Galaxy or face off against a squadron of Sakaarans, Yondu will do anything to come out on top. With his whistle-powered flying arrow and devastating combat skills, Yondu is truly a force to be reckoned with.
In the game the Yondu character will be playable in both the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set and the Toy Box 2.0 mode. Yondu will also be prominent on a new Marvel Team-Up: Yondu Power Disc. If a player pops the Yondu Power Disc on the Disney Infinity base, they will be able to fight alongside him to send enemies fleeing.
The Falcon character is a little less well known but certainly not new. “Falcon” is the codename for para-rescue veteran Sam Wilson, who’s Captain America’s closest ally. In Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, Falcon will be part of the Marvel’s Avengers Play Set and Toy Box 2.0.
With his EXO-7 wing pack and Hardlight Feathers, Falcon takes to the air to unleash the pain on evildoers. What’s really cool about Falcon’s addition to the game, though, is that he will also appear on the Falcon’s Wings Power Disc. This Power Disc will let other characters fly like Falcon in the game.
The Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes release date in North America is Sept. 23. The game will be available on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.
