BioShock for PlayStation 3 has gone gold, 2K Games announced today, putting the incredible shooter/action/RPG on track to ship for PS3 in North America on Oct. 21 and internationally on Oct. 17.
2K also announced that PS3 owners will soon get a BioShock demo, as their first foray into Rapture will hit the PlayStation Network on Oct. 2 (this Thursday).
BioShock contains all-new content on the PS3 to extend the one-time Xbox 360 and PC-only experience. New features include a “Survivor” difficulty mode, Trophy support and new downloadable content that will be available shortly after launch.
Unfortunately, 2K Games did not reveal pricing and availability for DLC. That, apparently, “will be specified at a later date.”
For the four gamers who don’t know what BioShock is all about, here’s the gist: Players journey through an immersive and terrifying underwater world called rapture, caught between powerful forces and hunted by genetically mutated citizens. During the course of the game, BioShock challenges gamers’ capacity to adapt and survive and compels them to question their values and relationships with the inhabitants of Rapture.
