PlayStation 3 owners participating in the PS3’s closed beta for Home have a new game space today based on Far Cry 2. The official Far Cry 2 space in PlayStation Home’s closed beta features details from the game’s open world, making the title the first third-party game environment in PlayStation Home.
PlayStation Home is a 3D social gaming community that allows PS3 users to meet, chat, plan and launch games together. In essence, it’s like Xbox Live meets Second Life.
The Far Cry 2 space will continue to grow and evolve alongside PlayStation Home, with future additions of new interactive features and functions. The recently launched Far Cry 2 space in PlayStation Home lets players explore elements of the game’s missions and NPCs. There’s also a multiplayer game of Mancala that uses bullets as game pieces.
In terms of exploration, gamers can poke around in-game environments from Far Cry 2 from the comfort of their own Home. Among the locales: a bombed-out train station that has been turned into an ad hoc cafe.
Far Cry 2 will ship for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on Oct. 21.
