The 2014 Heisman Trophy presentation live show is nearly upon us, with the three finalists ready to go in New York City. The favorite for the Heisman this year, University of Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota, was the last to arrive on the set of the Heisman presentation on Saturday, joining Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Amari Cooper and Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon for an afternoon dress rehearsal. You can see who wins the 2014 Heisman Trophy live on ESPN or watch Heisman live presentation online free stream as well.
The 2014 Heisman Trophy presentation is scheduled to begin at 8 EST / 5 PST. A pre-presentation Heisman TV special will get underway 30 minutes before, with some of the local TV channels in each Heisman Trophy finalist’s local area planning several extended specials. You can watch those Heisman presentation live specials by searching for them in your local listings.
As you watch Heisman presentation live online fee streaming or on TV, you’ll only see three finalists this year. Though there have been four or more football players invited to the show in the past, the Heisman presentation panel invited just three finalists. Last year, for instance, had four finalists at the Heisman presentation live show who were there to watch Florida State QB Jameis Winston win the 2013 award. Winston didn’t even make the top-five cut this year.
The favorite to win the 2014 Heisman Trophy is clearly Mariota. The University of Oregon Ducks QB entered his junior as one of college football’s front-runners and basically held that position throughout the season. Though he had a few miscues this season, Mariota ended his Heisman campaign last Saturday passing for 313 yards and two TDs to go with 33 rushing yards as the Ducks beat Arizona in the Pac-12 title game.
As we watch Heisman presentation live online free or on TV tonight, Mariota’s season stats are bound to get a lot of air time. And rightfully so. Mariota had an incredible junior year at the University of Oregon, cementing his status as one of college football’s biggest dual-threat quarterbacks. Mariota finished his junior season — and likely his final year in college — with a 68.3% completion percentage on his way to 3,783 passing yards, 38 passing TDs to just 2 interceptions, and 669 rushing yards with four rushing touchdowns.
Impressive though those numbers are, Mariota’s Heisman Trophy isn’t a foregone conclusion. Amari Cooper had an incredible season for Alabama football this year. With 1,656 yards and 14 touchdowns, Cooper was one of the SEC’s most dangerous wideouts. If his statistics themselves don’t indicate that, a simple look at his 115 receptions certainly will. That single-season total was the most in SEC history.
But speaking of records, the third Heisman finalist we’ll see tonight as we watch the Heisman presentation live online or on TV set a few of his own. Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon went out with a whimper against Ohio State in the Big Ten championship game, but his season until that point had been marvelous. Gordon this season had 309 rushing attempts for the Badgers, racking up 2,336 total yards and 26 TDs. In only two games this season did Gordon have fewer than 120 rushing yards. On Nov. 15 against Nebraska, Gordon rushed for 408, catapulting him into the Heisman Trophy conversation.
Still, University of Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota is by far the favorite to the the last man smiling as we watch Heisman Trophy presentation live online or on TV tonight. Mariota is one of the most anticipated talents expected to hit the 2015 NFL Draft, and his performance through three years at the University of Oregon has been too stellar to overlook. Though Gordon is nipping at his heels in several Heisman polls, Mariota still leads every Heisman prediction machine out there.
