Everyone seems to be getting into the active-headphone market it seems, including Gibson brands, which came out of the gates as CES by announcing its Trainer by Gibson headphones. While you may think of Gibson as a guitar brand, the company has a strong heritage in audio technology, and their Trainer by Gibson headphones are no exception.
Trainer by Gibson is going to be a full-on health line for Gibson, not just a single headphone. However, to be sure the brand gets off on the right foot, it’s hired Usain Bolt — the world’s fastest man, for those who don’t follow such things — as a brand ambassador. The goal, of course, is to take Trainer by Gibson to the next level, and fast.
“We have a full portfolio of brands that span every step of the chain, from the musician’s hands to the listener’s heart,” said Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson. “Trainer by Gibson brings the power of music to motivate and enhance life experiences for fitness enthusiasts in a way that … brings style, safety, convenience and great sound to help people reach their fitness goals.”
The Trainer by Gibson headphones include a number of features to suit the specific needs of fitness enthusiasts. The movable headset is probably the most obvious, as it lets users adjust the fit to their liking.
In addition, the headphones switch from an active mode and lifestyle mode with the push of a button, making them go from everyday headphones to sports headphones with the right fit, comfort and stability. A neat “NightNav” LED light also blinks up front for those people who want to jog or run at night and still be seen.
New “CoolTouch” cushions use NASA space technology fabric to keep things cool and breathable, while its “Outlast” technology uses Phase Change Materials that absorb, store and release heat for optimal thermal comfort.
The Trainer by Gibson headphones also use a “WeatherSeal” mesh substance to keep rain and sweat away from the drivers while the internals are sealed with silicon gaskets. In a nice touch, the cushions can be removed and cleaned after extra vigorous workouts.
Trainer by Gibson will be available in late April 2015 for $239.
