Skate 2 may not ship for two weeks, but that isn’t about to stop PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers from getting their hands on it early. Electronic Arts today announced that a Skate 2 demo is already available for the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Marketplace, and that a Skate 2 demo for PS3 is on its way January 15.
Although the PS3 is getting the demo one week later than the Xbox 360, PS3 owners are still getting a sneak peek at the skateboarding game, as Skate 2 doesn’t ship for either platform until January 21 in North America (Jan. 23 worldwide).
In the Skate 2 demo, players will be introduced to the city of New San Vanelona and get their first taste of the enhanced character-customization tools. In addition to providing a taste of the single-player mode, the Skate 2 demo will feature two of the game’s online Party Play modes: Thrasher’s Hall of Meat and Spot Battle.
In the full retail version of Skate 2, players will be equipped with double the bag of tricks and must rebuild their career and revive the skate scene. As proof that EA listened to reviewers, Skate 2 will now include with the ability to get off the board and move objects, which is actually a core gameplay mechanic as players create their own epic spots and challenges.
Once a challenge is created, it can then be uploaded, shared and experienced by others around the world via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
