10 Things I Hate About You is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and you’d better believe the film that was Heath Ledger’s American theatrical debut is primed for some special 10th-anniversary treatment. Sure enough, Touchstone is releasing the film in a special Special Edition DVD set that includes a host of new features, including never-before-seen Heath Ledger screen test footage.
In 10 Things I Hate About You, which is a modern interpretation of Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew,” Ledger plays one of two unconventional teens who find themselves embroiled in a rocky romance (the other teen: Julia Stiles, from the Bourne trilogy). Ledger plays the high school’s new bad boy, who’s been paid by Stiles’ older sister to woo her to the prom but eventually falls for her even without the money. Then a battle ensues to see who will win her affections prior to the school’s big dance.
