Amazon’s got a screaming deal today on one of the best single-player games of 2010: Batman: Arkham Asylum for only $15. The discount applies to both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, but you’ll have to order it today if you want the price.
Batman: Arkham Asylum is a third-person action game in which the Dark Knight is forced to take on his greatest challenge yet when he is trapped by arch rival, the Joker, within Gotham City’s facility for the criminally insane, Arkham Asylum. The gameplay blends arcade-style combat and stealth mechanics, and its graphics were hard to top as well (in fact, they still are).
In addition to the story-driven single-player campaign, Batman: Arkham Asylum also contains additional play modes. These include an arcade-styled “horde” combat mode in which players accumulate points by engaging thugs hand-to-hand across a series of maps. The key here is to chain together as many attacks as possible due to increase the point multiplier. The game also features a time-based stealth mode where players must hone their ability to strike silently from the shadows. This gameplay, referred to as ‘Invisible Predator’ utilizes the Dark Knight’s skill with gadgets like the grapple tool, batarang and explosives. These allow for vertical/horizontal mobility, the ability to quickly strike from above and at a distance and to take out enemies, and create distractions even through walls.
