It’s been a month now with your shiny new Nintendo 3DS, how many scratches do you have on it? Are the corners dinged up from clanking around in your messenger bag? Just how much lint has accumulated on the stereoscopic lenses? It’s inevitable that that type of damage will happen, but things can be reduced by using a proper case for your system. One such case that has been granted the licensing rights to use the 3DS moniker is the Expedition Case from publisher, Power A.
Yes, it’s only a case but it’s made in such a way that your 3DS will be protected from whatever else is bouncing around in your bag quite nicely. Externally, the case has some sturdy plastic material in a raised three dimensional pattern on the top, while the bottom and sides are a very well constructed black fabric. The rugged top design not only will look a little snazzy, but it also is soft enough to absorb any slight impacts that may happen, be it keys or a cell phone. The bottom of the case is thankfully reinforced so you’re expensive little toy isn’t just flopping around.
Internally, the case is lined in a very soft fabric that completely protects both the colored surface of your 3DS and the external cameras from scratches. A flap divides the case with one side touching the handheld being pocket free while the top contains elasticized pockets to hold three of your game cartridges. On the top side of the case three additional cart holders are included, as well as slots to hold in two additional styluses should you be the type to consistently lose them.
For about $15, it’s definitely one of the lowest priced things you might ever buy for your 3DS, and the peace of mind that comes with the protection it offers is worth it. I’ve had mine banging around the glove compartment of my car for the past week on a 500 mile trek, and it’s not shown any signs of damage on the outside of the case – while the 3DS sits inside snug and secure.
