Let the pants-wetting begin. Sega today officially announced development of a sequel to Condemned, one of the scariest, moodiest launch games on the Xbox 360. Called Condemned 2: Bloodshot, the sequel is slated to ship in “early 2008” for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
In Condemned 2: Bloodshot, players will assume the identity of Ethan Thomas, a former Serial Crimes Unit investigator who has been called back to duty to track down his missing partner. The disturbing events from Ethan’s past have left him a broken and desperate man drifting aimlessly through society in an inexplicable decline. Fighting inner demons throughout his one-man investigation into a sinister conspiracy, Ethan (er, the players) will need to use anything and everything in the environment to survive and unravel the mystery.
Along with the now-expected blunt objects and small firearms, Condemned 2 will also include an all-new fighting system complete with defensive and offensive combo chains, as well as grapples and holds. Players will also crack open an all-new set of high-tech forensic tools.
Oh, and did we mention the sequel will also have multiplayer options? It’s true: the mode (modes?) will include at least a deathmatch option with brutal hand-to-hand combat.
