One of the guiltiest pleasures I had at E3 2011 was walking through a digital version of Disney’s Magic Kingdom via an Xbox 360 and Kinect setup. The game, Kinect: Disneyland Adventures, is an Xbox 360-exclusive, and now we also know its official release date: Nov. 15, 2011.
If you’re lucky enough to attend the D23 Expo or Gamescom this week, head over to the Xbox 360 area to get a new glimpse of areas that were known but hadn’t been playable at E3: the Matterhorn Bobsleds, The Enchanted Tiki Room, The Jungle Cruise and new areas of the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Here’s what you’ll encounter in each: the Swiss Alps and the Abominable Snowman on the Matterhorn Bobsleds; macaws, toucans, orchids and totem poles in the Enchanted Tiki Room; a skipper taking players on a wild adventure to see zebras, hippos and gorillas on the Jungle Cruise; and the waters of the bayou in Pirates of the Caribbean.
As fans venture through Kinect: Disneyland Adventures they will also enjoy songs from the popular Disney attractions, including “The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room” and “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life For Me).”
I personally can’t wait for this game, as I’ve been to the Orlando and Anaheim parks a combined 25 times and have already indoctrinated the kids. To have the Disney Parks experience at home, walking through the entire area, should be fantastic.
