The Gamebryo game engine, which powers The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3, has been successfully ported to the Nintendo Wii. This naturally begs the question of whether Oblivion will appear on the Wii.
Our magic eight ball says “not likely.”
While the Gamebryo engine has been successfully implemented for the Wii, a port of Bethesda’s masterpiece is highly doubtful. Granted, the engine has officially been implemented as part of Nintendo’s Third Party Tools program, but that doesn’t mean existing games such as Oblivion will be subject to retroactive ports to Nintendo’s new console.
However, Bethesda is also using the Gamebryo engine for Fallout 3, which has yet to come out. Gamebryo is also being used by EA-Mythic on its upcoming Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Will the Wii therefore see port of these upcoming games? We’ll have to wait and see.
