When Alice: Madness Returns ships for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 14, it’s going to include a special goodie for the poor folks who didn’t have the good fortune of experiencing the original American McGee’s Alice on PC. That special goodie: a one-time-use Online Pass registration code that gives Xbox 360 and PS3 owners access to the original cult-classic.
I personally loved American McGee’s Alice, and I can’t wait to experience it on a console. The sequel, which seems to be flying under the radar of most gamers, should also be worth the wait. Presuming Mr. McGee’s been wearing his creative hat, anyway.
You can use the two links here to pre-order Alice: Madness Returns from Amazon: Alice: Madness Returns for Xbox 360 or Alice: Madness Returns for PS3.
Players who don’t have the download code for the original, or who have purchased the game used from a retailer after the original owner already redeemed the code, will be able to purchase American McGee’s Alice for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Marketplace or for $9.99 on the PlayStation Network through the main menu of Alice: Madness Returns.
Alice: Madness Returns finds an adult Alice returning to Wonderland to find the truth about her past, only to discover that her place of refuge has been transformed into a sinister nightmare. As madness threatens to overcome both Alice and Wonderland, she falls deeper into the ravaged Wonderland and is granted powers and abilities to fight all enemies who stand before her.
Designed with the same distinct vision of the original — which was twisted and awesome — the sequel will feature entirely new visuals, a new story and new gameplay as players engage in epic battles against a cast of truly diabolical characters.
For the record, Alice: Madness Returns will be available for the PC as well as the Xbox 360 and PS3. Also, a game disc for Alice: Madness Returns will be required in the console to access American McGee’s Alice. As of press time, there is not a stand-alone XBL or PSN download planned for American McGee’s Alice.
