Assassin’s Creed 3 may be on the way in 2011, just one year after the now-in-stores Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood released to retail. While Assassin’s Creed 3 is surely in development, the possible release date of 2011 definitely raises eyebrows.
In an interview on UK game site MCV, Ubisoft’s European marketing head, Geoffroy Sardin, confirms that Assassin’s Creed 3 is not only on the way, but on the way sooner than expected:
Yes, Yves [Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO] mentioned it last week in our financials — and more details will be forthcoming. But what I can say is that next year we will have another big Assassin’s Creed game.
A “big” new Assassin’s Creed game could be sweet, particularly since using that wording indicates it’s more than just a DLC add-on. A new game engine, perhaps even a new main character? We’ll have to see, but the prospect of Assassin’s Creed 3 in 2011 sounds intriguing to be sure.
