Portland, Oregon – Portland, Oregon – Survivor Z, the Interactive Fiction RPG for iOS, has announced today that award-winning comic book writer and editor Joe Keatinge will unveil a special challenge encounter based on his post-apocalyptic vision of the San Diego Comic Con. The adventure features artwork by Wook Jin Clark, and will be available via download as an In-App purchase starting on the first day of the SDCC: July 17, 2013.
Joe Keatinge is a Portland, OR-based writer published by Image, Marvel and DC Comics with titles including GLORY, INTERGALACTIC, MORBIUS: THE LIVING VAMPIRE, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, HELL YEAH and Executive Editor of the Eisner & Harvey award-winning anthology, POPGUN. Joe has teamed up with Ed Anderson, creator of Survivor Z to write his first interactive story on the Survivor Z platform.
The perfect mobile game for fans of zombie apocalypse fiction like Night of the Living Dead, The Walking Dead, and World War Z, Survivor Z is a touch screen Interactive Fiction Role Playing Game that uses location based data to bring zombie stories to life by placing them in real world locations and challenging players to navigate their perils. Survivor Z imagines a post-apocalyptic world where 90% of the population has been killed by a virus that reanimates its victims. A year after the outbreak, players emerge from their bunker to find that the world is inhabited mostly by the undead and roving bands of thugs. They seek out and find supplies by playing challenges that they find while waiting in an airport, on their lunch break, or on a walk.
Joe Keatinge’s new adventure for Survivor Z introduces players to the brutal life or death fight over Convention Badges in the ruins, as remnants of fandom struggle to survive in the post-apocalyptic wasteland that once was San Diego. Asked about the adventure, Keatinge says, “I was an avid reader of interactive fiction as a kid with the Choose Your Own Adventure Series, so I’ve been having a blast carrying on that tradition in the apocalypse that is Comic Con through the filter of Survivor Z.”
