Millions of gamers around the world are looking forward to Activision’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Oddly enough, Activision itself is also looking backward, announcing that Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare marks the first time the series has appeared on a console. The 12-player online action game has previously been only available to PC gamers.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a fast-paced online multiplayer game in which players turn-in their guns and grenades for battle axes and swords. And here you were thought we were joking….
The game combines familiar competitive gameplay with open-field combat that takes place in the Middle Ages. Players can choose between one of four classes – Knight, Vanguard, Man-at-Arms and Archer – each balanced to offer unique strengths and vulnerabilities.
As for weapons, you won’t find any perks or kill streaks in this game, though the game goes include an armory of more than 60 weapons. The difference is that they’re period-authentic, which means they include swords, shields, daggers, maces, axes, javelins, longbows and crossbows.
Melee combat in Chivalry: Medieval Warfare requires players to use different attacks, blocks and counters as they fight through a variety of medieval environments and scenarios. Some of the activities include raiding peasant villages, burning crops, laying siege on castles, defending the royal family, or fighting in a gladiatorial arena.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare will be digitally distributed later this year via the Xbox Live Games Store for Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Network on PlayStation 3. Activision did not announce a specific release date.
