Sega today shipped Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars for the PSP (PlayStation Portable). The PSP-exclusive game marks the first time players can compete against a friend in a multiplayer mode.
In Crazy Taxi: Fare Wards, would-be cabbies can also race their way through 32 mini-games and customize the music while racing through the city. As far as the wireless head-to-head mode (via Ad Hoc), players can take turns in a skills competition to see who can pick up and drop off the most passengers to earn the highest fares. In addition, players can run interference during their opponent’s trial, throwing off the opponent and making them miss a passenger pick up, drop off, sharp turn or jump.
Another turn-based multiplayer mode allows two cabbies to play on one PSP system and split the cab ride.
Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars includes the two original maps of Crazy Taxi, including the arcade map and the original Dreamcast map inspired by San Francisco. The game also includes the New York-inspired maps from Crazy Taxi 2.
