Electronic Arts today shipped Crysis Warhead, the next chapter in the Crysis franchise, in North America and Europe. The game — which is a stand-alone title and does not require the original Crysis in order to play, will be available via digital download on Sept. 18.
Crysis Warhead features a new single-player campaign as well as Crysis Wars, a new multiplayer suite for the Crysis universe. The game costs $29.99.
Crysis Warhead takes place alongside the events of the first Crysis, with players fighting enemies on the other side of the island as a nanosuit-clad Sergeant “Psycho” Sykes. The multiplayer component, Crysis Wars, features 21 maps and three multiplayer modes: InstantAction, a frenetic deathmatch enhanced by the power of the nanosuit; PowerStruggle, a hardcore team-based mode; and Team Instant Action, a mix of fast-paced action in a team-based environment.
Before you ask, YES, Crytek has optimized the engine so Crysis Warhead will run on “a wide range of PCs.” So says EA, anyway.
