Where can the Dead Space team go after creating Hell in space? Creating the transition to Hell from Earth, of course. Which is why, EA announced today, the Redwood Shores team responsible for Dead Space is hard at work on Dante’s Inferno, a third-person action/adventure game based on the epic poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
The Divine Comedy basically defined the world’s concept of Hell and purgatory, as it tells the story of a man named Dante who journeys through nine levels of Hell in pursuit of his beloved Beatrice. This tormented world is the one in which Dante’s Inferno will take place.
Specific details about Dante’s Inferno remain under wraps, but it’s safe to presume it will appear on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, and it may even use the proprietary game engine that EA created for Dead Space. Whether that means it will be a single-player experience a la Dead Space remains to be seen, but we can only imagine the “fun” of a Dante’s Inferno multiplayer mode in which one team plays Dante while another plays the demons going after him in Hell.
What a great thing to think about at Christmas time, no?
We’ll bring you more details about Dante’s Inferno as we learn them.
