Dawn of Discovery, a new Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii game from Ubisoft, takes place in the year 1404, when King George’s land is suffering from severe droughts and brutal famine. Aware of his people’s distress, the king calls on his two sons, William and Edward, to acquire new territories in order to produce enough goods to satisfy the needs of his empire’s inhabitants. Sure sounds like fertile ground for an empire-building game to us!
In this new Nintendo DS game, players must fulfill every need of the king’s society while both expanding and sustaining the vast realm. Formerly known as ANNO 1404, Dawn of Discovery is releasing in North America under this new name with the hope of tapping into gamers’ inquisitive psyche (“discovery”) and giving players a new style of game for the DS (read: not a brain-training game). Plus, Dawn of Discovery uses the DS stylus for building and managing the empire, so if you’ve ever wanted to get literally hands-on with setting governmental policy, this game provides the chance to do just that. In the digital sense only, of course.
