Almost lost in the madness of Sony’s PlayStation E3 2014 press conference was a sweet gem known as the Destiny First Look Alpha PS4 program. Destiny was Sony’s knockout punch last E3, a game from Bungie (formerly of Microsoft-only fame) that looks both gorgeous and like a ton of fun. This E3 it wasn’t a knockout punch, but more of a cherry on top of an already sweet day.
Hot on the heels of EA’s announcement that the Battlefield Hardline PS4 beta was going live that very day, Bungie and Sony jointly announced that the Destiny First Look Alpha PS4 program was kicking-off later this week, and that there would be a special Destiny PS4 bundle later this year that includes a white PS4.
All PlayStation 4 owners have the chance to participate in the Destiny First Look Alpha PS4 program that starts Thursday (June 12). If you’re wondering how to register for the Destiny First Look Alpha, it’s simple enough: just enter your PSN ID as soon as possible at this website. The Alpha is scheduled to go from 12:00pm PDT Thursday until Sunday, June 15, at 11:59pm PDT.
Yes, that’s only a three-day program. So get in now and play hard. Here’s the official Destiny E3 trailer, just to whet your appetite, followed by some more information about the final product and First Look Alpha.
The Destiny First Look Alpha PS4 program offers “a small sampling” of activities you’ll find in the final game. Destiny is an action game that combines the campaign story, cooperative, competitive modes you’d expect from a Bungie game with in-depth character creation and a huge variety of weapons, armor and combat abilities.
The final game will allow players to create a character, take it into every mode and venture out into the world alone or with friends. The Destiny First Look Alpha PS4 program will presumably support all that same functionality, but in a much smaller environment and without insight into the campaign and plot details. Bungie’s secretive like that.
