Don King Presents: Prizefighter, the first documentary-style boxing game and a head-to-head competitor for EA’s Fight Night series, has gone gold today and is entering production for Xbox 360.
Don King Presents: Prizefighter sounds at first blush like a boxer simulator, not just one about boxing, as it involves players controlling their boxer in and out of the ring. Players assume the role of a talented but unknown boxer fighting his way out of obscurity and into the title bout.
The storyline challenges players to balance their rigorous training regimen with the temptations of wealth and stardom, unfolding in a documentary style that features real-life athletes such as Ken Norton, Larry Holmes, Andrew Golota and Joe Calzaghe.
So what will those temptations include? Surely there will be “juice” and drugs and fast cars, but how about fast women, too? Heather Vandeven, the 2007 Penthouse Pet of the Year, as well as Bria Myles will play the role of seductresses throughout players’ digital boxing careers.
Don King Presents: Prizefighter will ship June 10 for Xbox 360. No PS3 version is planned. A Wii and DS version will ship later this fall.
