ATLANTA, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — MomoCon Animation and Gaming Convention returns to Atlanta on Memorial Day Weekend 2014 (May 23rd – 25th) with the expectation of historical growth for fan run convention. In 2013, MomoCon exceeded all expectations and set a new attendance record of 12,200 people growing by 42% over 2012. Anticipated growth for 2014 has convention planners preparing for a similar increase in attendance for 2014. According to Dan Carroll, Senior Director of Media Relations for the event, “Current estimates for attendance are over 15,000 attendees.”
“MomoCon’s incredible growth for 2013 means 2014 will need to be even bigger and better!” said Christopher Stuckey MomoCon’s Internal Chairman. “MomoCon 2014 will feature the addition of over 50,000 sq ft of event space. We will continue to use the Hilton Atlanta, but also expand into the adjacent Marriott Marquis.”
The MomoCon Team prepares for the convention year round. Volunteer meetings are held year round and help to recruit and train the massive volunteer team. MomoCon volunteers are known for planning for the convention with very strong customer service training. Organizers work tirelessly to manage and organize the best possible fan convention by guests, working with gaming and anime companies, and creating an event schedule that includes over 700 hours of programming.
MomoCon’s history started with the Georgia Tech anime club, Anime O-Tekku. Alumni from the school and the club opened the first MomoCon to the public in 2005. The event hosted 700+ attendees. Since then, the convention has achieved explosive growth.
For 2014, the convention will have an outstanding array of celebrity and industry guests. Animation guests this year include voice over legends Maurice LaMarche, Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, and Tress MacNeille among others. Gaming guests are expanding this year, headlined by Troy Baker who plays Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite. New media guests include YouTube stars from the ThatGuyWithTheGlasses, CavemanFilms, and SkyDoesMinecraft. Cosplay, as always, will play a big part in the fun of MomoCon.
For those interested in attending MomoCon 2014, the hotel registration is already available online for $129 a night and advanced memberships are also for sale for only $40 for all 3 days at MomoCon.com
