Sony’s PlayStation 4 has outsold Microsoft’s Xbox One by an order of millions after one year on the market. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some great PS4 Black Friday 2014 deals to be had. Though Microsoft appears to be going for the jugular this holiday with some aggressive discounts, Sony’s promoted really one Black Friday 2014 deal to rule them all. But Sony’s decision to promote just one special doesn’t mean it’s the only PS4 Black Friday 2014 deal around.
Sony came out swinging two weeks ago announcing a special Black Friday PS4 bundle that includes two free games. And oh yeah, one of those free PS4 games was Grand Theft Auto 5. Though the inclusion of GTA 5 stole the show, that $399 PS4 bundle also included a copy of The Last of Us Remastered.
A second Black Friday PS4 bundle will include LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and LittleBigPlanet 3 for free. Like the GTA 5 bundle, this one will also cost $399.99. Normally the PS4 alone will set you back $400, so you’re essentially getting $100 off with both of these PS4 Black Friday 2014 deals.
Unlike Microsoft’s discounted pricing, which lasts until January 3, 2015, Sony’s PS4 Black Friday 2014 deal is just that — exclusive to Black Friday. There’s no Cyber Monday version, no “Thanksgiving weekend” version and no extension of any sort planned. So if you’re in the market for a PS4 Black Friday is the day to go buy one.
Canadian gamers will pay a little bit more, as the PS4 Black Friday bundle will cost $450. No doubt Sony’s sorry about that, eh?
Since the PS4 Black Friday deals were price cuts made by Sony, all retailers including Walmart, Best Buy and Target will be honoring the discount on Friday. A few retailers are going above and beyond, so you may want to prioritize those stores as you’re planning your Black Friday shopping route.
For example, Toys R Us will offer certain PS4 games in their “buy one, get one 40% off” Black Friday 2014 deal. The toy store is also offering discounts on select Skylanders figures. We saw a few Toys R Us stores offering a few Skylanders figures deals earlier this week, so you may be able to sneak in before Black Friday officially kicks off.
GameStop is getting in on the PS4 action too. The video game retailer has a history of offering serious discounts on used games, up to “buy one, get one free,” and reports indicate that GameStop will offer that Black Friday deal for PS4 games as well.
