Ghostbusters is one of the most beloved comedy franchises of the 1980s, so hearing that its videogame adaptation was coming in 2008 was news to millions of gamers’ ears. When Activision dropped it, the news likewise hit like a lead balloon, but today Atari made franchise fans happy again, announcing that the Ghostbusters videogame will ship in June 2009 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, among other platforms.
Ghostbusters (read our Ghostbusters: The Video Game preview) will be released to coincide with the original movie’s 25th anniversary. When it was originally announced for release this fall, the rumor was that its release would coincide with the films’ release on Blu-ray Dis. So, the question now: will the Ghostbusters Blu-ray set also be releasing in June 2009?
In addition to appearing on the PS3 and Xbox 360, Ghostbusters: The Video Game will be published for the Wii, PS2, DS and PC.
