Get your cameras ready and your stomping feet warmed up: a new Godzilla PS4 game is in development for North America and will stomp onto both the PlayStation 4 and PS3 in the summer of 2015.
The new Godzilla PS4 game is being developed by Natsume Atari and will be published by Bandai Namco. A specific release date hasn’t been announced, though the “summer” timeframe is perfect for filling the gaming void that traditionally exists between March and September.
Namco’s Godzilla PS4 game will give players sole control of Godzilla, trampling and laying waste to cities and environments with the goal of taking out each area’s Energy Generator. Doing so will let players collect G-Energy, which can then be used to increase Godzilla’s size and skills.
The Godzilla PS4 game won’t just be about smashing buildings, though that’s bound to be fun. The game will also let players take on classic enemies including Mothra, King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla.
Godzilla won’t be based on the recent theatrical film. Instead it will contain a largely original storyline and be based on classic characters from the entirety of the Godzilla franchise. The game will have multiple game modes, including Mission Mode, which which players will wreak mayhem through more than 20 different stages; a Diorama Mode that allows players to place Godzilla in different settings to capture epic photos; and a King of Monsters Mode in which Godzilla must fight his way through the franchise’s most famous enemies to claim the throne as the true King of Monsters.
