Though the Grim Fandango Remastered PS4 game won’t launch for two weeks, Double Fine Productions has launched pre-orders today for the updated 16-year-old game. You should be able to find the Grim Fandango Remastered PS4 pre-orders available now via the PlayStation Network.
Grim Fandango Remastered will be available for PlayStation Vita, PC, Mac and Linux as well. All platforms’ version of the game will launch on January 27.
Because it’s also available on PS Vita, Grim Fandango Remastered will be listed on PSN as a Cross-Buy title for $14.99. As a pre-order bonus, Grim Fandango Remastered PS4 will include a new PS4 dynamic theme.
The non-PlayStation versions are available for pre-order at GOG.com for the same price and come with exclusive wallpapers.
More than 16 years since the game’s original release, Tim Schafer’s final game from his LucasArts days is finally making its way back to fans. The “remastered” elements are both literal and figurative, as the game includes updated graphics, a new live orchestral soundtrack, additional control schemes, developer commentary and more.
If you want to go old-school, you can also choose to play the game with its original art and tank controls.
The game’s official website has a new documentary entry from about the remastering process if you’re really interested in reading more about it. This episode includes several members from the original development team who got together to produce the commentary sessions. You’ll also see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra recording the new live music.
