Twentieth Century Fox has announced it will release Jumper on Blu-ray Disc with D-BOX Motion Code support. Fox has previously released Blu-ray movies such as Predator and Aliens vs. Predator with D-BOX support.
D-BOX Motion Code is special encoding included on select Blu-ray Discs that lets consumers literally feel the movement of certain scenes. Using the appropriate hardware and a D-BOX Motion Controller, consumers can have a Star Tours-like experience in the comfort of their own home, but with hundreds of Blu-rays and DVDs rather than just a single show.
Each line of the D-BOX code is hand-crafted by D-BOX technicians to ensure every frame is encoded with the appropriate type and intensity of motion. This is obviously a time-intensive process, which is one reason not every film includes D-BOX support. Fox and other studios, however, have obviously been compelled by the technology to include D-BOX Motion Code on more of their Blu-ray releases.
Jumper will appear on Blu-ray in widescreen 1080p video authored in BD-Java with AVC MPEG-4 compression. Its audio will be presented in 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. In terms of bonus features, Jumper on Blu-ray will include all the materials found on both the single and two-disc DVD versions, as well as a BD-exclusive picture-in-picture track and a second disc that contains a digital copy of the movie.
