I’m not afraid to admit it: I’m a Michael Jackson fan. One of my biggest musical regrets is not having the chance to see him in concert. But Ubisoft hopes to appease Xbox 360 and PS3 owners like me with Michael Jackson The Experience, which has shipped in North America for both Xbox Kinect and PlayStation Move, by teaching me to dance and sing like the King of Pop and “be” in one of his concerts.
Yeah, it’s pretty much a lost cause. But at least players can try to perform more than two dozen of his songs and play with their family and friends via the multiplayer mode. Just don’t throw a disc or sprain anything.
Michael Jackson The Experience had previously been available only for the Wii.
The Xbox 360 version of Michael Jackson The Experience uses Ubisoft’s “Player Projection” technology that uses the Kinect’s built-in sensor to capture the player and put him or her on-screen in the game dancing on a variety of stages inspired by Jackson’s music videos and stage performances. Players will be scored on their dance moves and how closely they are able to emulate the choreography with their entire body, no controller required. They will also be scored on their ability to sing along to Jackson’s most popular tracks (list below) using the Kinect’s built-in microphone. The multiplayer party mode allows up to four players to join in individually or in teams of two to work together to see which team will be crowned the king (of pop).
The PS3 version of Michael Jackson The Experience showcases the HD visuals and precise controls via the Move motion controller. A PS3-exclusive feature gives players the ability to upload a photo of themselves playing the game directly to their Facebook page via an in-game interface. The variety of multiplayer options allows up to four players to dance or sing simultaneously and the game adapts to the hardware available.
