While gaming consoles and computer games will always be important to the serious “gamers” out there, we can safely say that mobile gaming is no fad and there is no slow down in sight. It’s said that mobile gaming has become more prominent than stationary consoles. This is probably why Nintendo recently came out with their Switch console. It provides a stationary console that you can hook up to your television like normal, but then you can disconnect a handheld system that you can take with you on the go. It’s a simple plug-and-play option that is sure to be the next big thing in gaming. Why is mobile gaming becoming so popular?
Mobile Society
We are always on the go! And we want to continue our lives when we are at home, at work, or traveling abroad. It’s true that it’s nearly impossible to disconnect anymore, and rather than fighting it we should embrace it. I love going to the casino, and used to plan my vacation destinations based on whether or not they had a casino nearby. That was my way of unwinding and having a little fun. Now with mobile phones and apps, and all the different kinds of bets you can make, I can literally enjoy my past time from anywhere in the world without planning my vacations around it.
Our Phones Go Everywhere With Us
When is the last time you left your phone at home by mistake? I’m guessing never. I could get half way to work and would still turn around and go back home the minute I realized I left my cell phone there. We have our entire lives on these phones. Our banking applications, payment and virtual wallet apps, text messaging to keep in touch with friends and family, and even our social connections via Facebook and Instagram. Our game apps are just one more thing that we have loaded on to them, but it also makes it convenient for us to play when we want and from wherever we want.
Quality is Increasing
When 4G networks became more prevalent we were suddenly able to use our phone networks at an increasing rate and in a larger capacity. Now we have 5G coming out that is said to allow us to download an HD quality movie on our phones or tables within a few seconds. That sort of speed is mind boggling to consider, and could even crush the need for wi-fi hot spots going forward. It has also allowed the disparity between mobile and console games to narrow a great deal. The functionality and graphics of mobile games, albeit being on a smaller screen, has exponentially improved over the past 5 years. I can only imagine where we will be another 5 years from now.
