It’s Monday today, which means Nintendo has uploaded another new game to its WiiWare platform and two to its Virtual Console. The WiiWare game, Groovin’ Blocks, is the latest entry in the ever-growing genre of “music/rhythm games.”
Groovin’ Blocks (800 Wii Points) adds musical gameplay to an action/puzzle game foundation. Play to the rhythm of the music to increase your score, and try to hit “Superbeats” to double your multiplier. Groovin’ Blocks has 27 stages, 15 levels of power-ups and three skill levels. It also includes a co-op mode and head-to-head mode, which sees the power-ups becoming attacks on your opponent (a la Puzzle Kombat).
The two Nintendo Wii Virtual Console games that go up today at 9am PST are Final Solider (700 Wii Points, originally on TurboGrafx16) and Cho Aniki (900 Wii Points, originally on TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM).
