Looking for new neighbors? How do Seth Rogen and Zac Efron sound? Before you pass judgment on that, you may want to see how they interact together as ‘hood mates, which you can do in just over a month. Universal Home Entertainment has announced the Neighbors Blu-ray release date as Sept. 23.
The Neighbors Blu-ray Combo Pack and On-Demand versions will both hit on Sept. 23. That release date is more than a month after the Digital HD version, which just released Aug. 12.
The wait may be worth it for fans of disc-based media, though. Both the Digital HD and Blu-ray Combo Pack include a never-before-seen Alternate Opening that reveals just how the boys of Delta Psi Beta came to suburbia. The Neighbors Blu-ray Combo Pack will also include additional bonus features such as a Gag Reel, Line-O-Rama and behind-the-scenes interviews.
As of this writing, it was still possible to order it on Amazon for a pretty hefty discount. If you’re on the (white picket) fence about the movie, you may as well take the plunge from Amazon if you’re going to do so, since you’ll save some money in the process.
The plot for Neighbors is pretty novel, at least for those of us with kids. It follows the story of a young couple suffering from arrested development who are forced to live next to a fraternity house after the birth of their newborn baby. One can only imagine the hilarious situations than present themselves with that background.
Bonus features exclusive to Digital HD and the Blu-ray set include:
- Alternate Opening: Uncover the mystery of how the original Delta Psi Beta house was destroyed and how the neighbors became neighbors.
- Deleted/Alternate Scenes
- On the Set with…: Dave Franco provides a tour around the frat’s fundraiser (aka dildo sale), while Christopher Mintz-Plasse talks about and demonstrates his special “prop.”
The other Blu-ray bonus features are shared with the DVD version:
- Gag Reel: The entire cast contributes to these hilarious on-set flubs.
- Line-O-Rama: The laughs continue take after take in this improvisational extended scene.
- An Unlikely Pair: Take a behind-the-scenes look at the unlikely pairing of comedic veteran Seth Rogen and heartthrob Zac Efron.
- Partying with the Neighbors: Parties, babies and crazy friends; these three elements lead to some of the funniest moments on the screen and on set.
- The Frat: Learn more about Delta Psi Beta – the current frat brothers, the legends of Delta Psi that came before, and current whipping boy, Ass-Juice.
