With COD: Ghosts Invasion DLC set to release for PS3 and PS4 later this week, Activision uploaded a brief reminder about their next game in the series. The new Call of Duty Advanced Warfare trailer, called “Animation & Art Direction,” is a bit of a making-of vignette.
Most gamers would’ve thought a new Call of Duty Advanced Warfare trailer would focus on gameplay. And indeed this new two-plus-minute trailer includes a slew of all-new gameplay footage and cutscenes. However, the bulk of the new video shows the actual process of motion capture, animation and pulling it all together for those very gameplay snippets we all want to see.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, a new face for the franchise but not to gaming.
In this new Call of Duty Advanced Warfare trailer, Animation Director Christopher Stone and Art Director Joe Salud describe how performance capture, facial animation and character skeletons all bring detail to a photo-realistic level. And seriously, it really is photo-realistic. What you’ll see here are beyond next-gen graphics.
The Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare release date is Nov. 4 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. You can pre-order COD Advanced Warfare from Amazon to ensure you’ll get it on that release date. We’ll bring you additional details about the game, including (we hope) hands-on impressions, in the months to come.
