When Chime Super Deluxe releases on the PS3 next week, the game’s getting a few new multiplayer modes to celebrate its console release. Chime Super Deluxe will be exclusive to the PS3 when it releases March 29, although it was not immediately clear whether the new multiplayer modes would be made available as updates for previous versions of the game.
One of the most-requested updates for Chime Super Deluxe is making its way to the PlayStation Network release of the game: Co-Op. Co-Op Mode in Chime Super Deluxe has players working together to fill a grid as quickly as possible with completed quads in order to reach the 100% coverage and keep on building that high score.
The second mode, as you may have guessed, is a new Versus Mode. The Chime Super Deluxe Versus Mode is where friends become enemies and the competition heats up, as players work against each other to cover as much of the grid as possible against a backdrop of colorful, musically harmonious chaos. Versus Mode also introduces an additional rule whereby players can “steal” an opponents coverage by overwriting it with over 50% of their own color, adding a subtle level of strategy to proceedings.
Chime Super Deluxe is a unique block puzzle game featuring a music-creation element. Players must cover a number of different grids with irregular shapes to form rectangular blocks called Quads. Every shape and Quad generates musical notes and phrases, so as the grid is gradually covered, the song builds up in the background. Working their way towards that elusive 100-percent coverage, players will create a unique remix every time.
Yeah, that’s cool. It’s like Tetris for DJs. Grab it when it comes out.
